With Genesis, the system can check for "Good Funds" prior to actually pulling the funds. Of course the Bank has to have a relationship with CheckFree (most large banks do).

That is only one method for operating in Good-funds" it actually sends each transaction round trip, from bank, to CKFR, to bank. For some banks that is OK, for others that is not and CKFR supports another protocol for them. The bank simple batches up payment instructions and sends them in on a pre-defined schedule. This increases system availability and provides better data control for the bank.
