Charles - <Conservative product releases are the niceties afforded by technology leaders - which Intel was.> I in no way concede Intel's leadership. A brief lead in MHz is conceded, but Intel Executive Staff has reiterated internally that in no way does Intel intend to concede technological leadership in any market segment. Activities are well under way in an effort to realize these objectives. I personally feel pretty good about things as they stand. <It will be interesting to see how Intel will be doing product releases under pressure. So far PIII-600 was weak, Camino, on 27th, is looking like pretty darned weak, and now we are waiting for signs of strength on CuMine. I don't know how well the release with .25 PIII is going, as I am getting conflicting reports as to how well this release "looks". If customers are waiting for Cumine before committing to Camino, I could understand that, and I do not foresee any problems on that front. <I personally think next few quarters are going to tell a lot about Intel and how it competes under pressure. Let's see.> Yes we will see. We won't have to wait very long for some items to become evident relative to the map. Hopefully this week or next, some information will start to filter out. We are in lockdown mode Charles, until information regarding the release is assimilated and distributed through appropriate channels. By the end of the first week of October, a real good picture should emerge regarding how Intel intends to compete. I am attempting to utilize this waiting period until the information comes out as a character building exercise. PB
