Vadym: I think what you're saying there is what I try to do too. I call it "scalping" when I buy something/short something and pick up 1 - 2 in a matter of a few minutes, and that term is probably incorrect. One stock I've recently been "scalping" is HLIT. If you buy that correctly, you get the 1-3 often in two minutes or less and it happens within the context of probably an 8-10 intraday move, so I guess that's "scalping". That stock is also one where I would bet 75% or more trades go off at the ask, and there is never any bid to speak of, so someone just taking a quick look would probably stay away - a mistake. I once saw some innocent (probably a fund or something) bid 2500 shares on it and the spread widened from like 1.5 to 3 and something <G>

I try to take a nice bite out of a good intraday move, 1-3 points and leave while there are still people buying. I have to temper the irritation at watching it continue on up (or down, as the case may be) after I'm out but it's getting easier.
