JDS Uniphase announced today the completion of its recent acquisition of AFC Technologies, based in Hull, Quebec and specializing in the development of optical amplifiers and broadband instruments. The acquisition was made by JDS Uniphase to enhance its existing strength in optical amplifiers and broadband instruments. AFC products include a Double Band Fiber Amplifier (DBFA) and SmartAmp(TM) intelligent networking amplifiers for use in Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM). In addition, AFC has developed a line of proprietary Broad Band Source (BBS) instruments designed to minimize component manufacturing cost. Kevin Kalkhoven, CEO and Co-Chairman for JDS Uniphase stated, ''We are very pleased that AFC will be joining the JDS Uniphase family. Their products and technologies will enhance our portfolio and strengthen our foundation for long-term future growth.''
