If AOL came onto the scene a few years later than they did, perhaps everyone that is against the company would have some means to justify their claims as to why AOL won't survive. However, Case had a vision that was ahead of the pact. Gates did the exact same thing many years ago with the start of MSFT. How many times in the past years have people been preaching the demise of MSFT? Perhaps MSFT is slowly fading, but not without having the largest Market cap in history. AOL on the other hand is just beginning their claim to the throne of market cap giants. Case has given his customers a product that has endeared them to him. The bottom line is, people love AOL. With 20 million users, they own the market. You can argue aginst me till your blue in the face, but the fact remains that no matter how many negative posters come to this board, AOL continues to expand their customer base. Can we call it an internet monopoly? Maybe not yet. However, in my eyes, the comparisons to MSFT are glaring similarities. The price decline is a temporary setback. AOL is the king of the internet, period.
