Emc is of great interest to us G&Kers, t36, though we've never reached a consensus as to what kind of animal it is. There are a number of scholarly discussions of emc on in our thread's archives; start reading <g>.

t36, we discussed EMC extensively from time to time. Our conclusion is that EMC is the King of SAN. We also concluded that NTAP is the King of NAS. The two are apparently on a collision course as EMC goes downmarket and NTAP goes up market. Both will continue to realize rapid growth, but there is a possibility that in future years one will emerge as the Gorilla of storage subsystems.
