<< When I was 12 years old I can remember getting sunburned so bad on my shoulders the skin bubbled up like a fried egg. >>

Tell me about it. My dad had some mowing jobs lined up for me and told me not to wear a shirt as I was too pale. I blistered across my shoulders and was then too sore to wear a shirt. Another couple of days of sun and I started bleeding. That ended the mowing.

I've been burned enough that I don't want anymore. I go out early and get out of the sun by 10 during the summer.

Do you remember wearing baby oil mixed with iodine? I don't know what that did, but we all swore by it. Greased ourselves up, and lay there like little hot dogs all lined up in a row --except I was a bratwurst. I am very fair (make-up shade usually ivory or porcelain) and I just cringe up when I think of what I did to get a tan. The summer I was a lifeguard, bikinis were in, and I burned my stomach so bad, it not only blistered, it scabbed.
(SOOO attractive)

Blondes like us were doomed. I hated my brother- he had white blonde hair and the kind of skin that bronzed. I had the dishwater blonde hair, and freckles. I hated him.

After reading these posts, I'm examining my skin, worried about every flake and freckle.
