I think this race puts the Baffert colt at the top of the class for now. Bevo and the other closer seem to be improving, but I wasn't overly impressed. They're nice colts though.

I'm not sure what happened to More than Ready. He had a great trip but he didn't have his usual burst. I'd blame it exclusively on the distance except that the other colts had him collared at the 6 furlong point and the jockey was asking him for something. He just didn't have it. If only the distance was the problem he would have spurted away at some point and then tired. He's handled that group totally wrapped up on other occasions up to 6 1/2 furlongs.

He was sick and missed a few days of training so maybe that had something to do with it. I think he deserves another chance before we call him a flash in the pan or a sprinter.
