It boils down to this simple fact: in 90% of
cases today, if you're developing an application meant to reach any sizable number of
users, and you're not Microsoft, you're going to think, 'Wait, why wouldn't I develop
this as a web appplication?' It's that simple. That blows MSFT's model out of the water.
Win32 is an asset that is already becoming a liability. They know it too.

This fact is supported by all of the billions and billions (and billions) of dollars of IPO money, of VC money, of MONEY going into businesses that are *not* writing to the M$ API. It's more than a fact. It's a tide.

qwik, thanks for taking a serious stab at it. I fall back on one point and the crux of my case. In the new era, sun.com grew its PRODUCT revenue 17.5% year over year. nuff' said.

QwikSand, a marvellous post to Twister, who is annoying. what do you think of CTXS, Citrix Systems, an enabler of technology without buying from MSFT, and when would you advise me to re-enter SUNW? I recenTLY sold to pursue CTRX and ADBE.
