So far most of these products at the sales-customer end level level are immature, and the salespersons aren't happy about using them. Much of the demand appears to be coming from higher up executives. Part of this may be a desire to keep better track on the salespersons. The salespersons resist this approach, and the result is a high number of sales automation failures.

You and I have discussed this on other threads and, of course, you're right.

My thinking is that the reason SFA is important is because the salespeople hate it so much that they quit. The execs like the SFA because the replacement salespeople have immediate access to customer information. :)
