Isn't it funny that two religions , Jewish and Christian share the same divine SRUTI(Bibles) but differ only on the belief in the Messiahship of one humble teacher or GURU....

seems a sad and sorry division to me. Too much strife in the world
when Holy Books are used as weapons. Spiritual Nationalism is always war provoking and does little to promote an evolutionary spiritual path!

That's why Buddhism was the world's fastest growing religion, and did not stress the idea of god so much as the "mindfulness" of Life itself. There you will find god. Miles and miles ahead , i think, in an evolutionary sense.

BTW Did You know for two weeks Buddah stopped along his path on a mount and gave talks to what was then(360 yrs before christ) the largest gathering of human beings till that time to hear a teacher speak of truth within. Thousands everyday, for that 2 week period of time...

**They were Known as Buddah's <Sermons on the Mount>

does that ring any bells? Also note the historical evidence of Buddah as an actual living and breathing man, is almost as well documented as some roman emperors... Probably the world's most documented spiritual leader, BTE:before christian era

FWIW

Michelle Harris, we are not here to discuss the Bible. we are here to discuss
a) evolution
b) evolutionists' ( RDawkins )ideas about creation
( they are atheistic )
No mercy on the violent river of life

The "know-nothings", the "know-alls", and the "no-contests"

c) whether these ideas [ evolution is now firmly bonded to the philosophy called Secular Humanism, a form of atheism ]should be taught in High School:

" Yes we will teach you that it looks like we came
from slime but no we can't teach you about the God in
the Declaration of Independence and on
yourUS currency. That's taboo. Yes we have no firm data
that we came from slime except that it is highly suggestive. No we have no
firm data that we were not created by God but it is
but it is highly suggestive". world-of-dawkins.com (last sentence)

Thats fine Tunica but there are contradictions galore and some of the stories (such as noah's ark as has been mentioned here) take imagination to believe
as strictly chronicled events. So, the reader has a choice, he/she can either accept your view that the Bible is "god's word"... but then that would require a
sort of "looking the other way" when those anomalies occur... or they can do what many do which is read the Bible subjectively.

I don't want to get in a heated argument about this, because I know how it goes, and as I say I love the Bible... but I don't think Noah's ark was the end all
be all as to how animals arrived on this planet... although a flood likely happened... I choose to accept the bible as a spiritual document rather than a
physical one... jmo though
