Yep, been right there with ya all the time. To talk of evolution as a science or a spiritual path, both are valid.

when you pose he statement "that a chimp has no spiritual path", who in their right mind would try and say that, for god's sake!

People in Kansas? Try Rome, my friend... You kow the guys that supported Hitler during WWII and placed Galileo under house arrest for the rest of his life for saying the world was not the center of the universe!

Think now days, people don't think like Chimps, and give Chimps the benefit of the doubt, for having a spiritual life! all you got to do is look in their eyes.

The test of this concept is to look for moral patterns in animals. The altruism of honeybees or the protection of the elephant herd by the matriarch. Those morals that get more complex than these, especially those which have variation in different cultures are more likely to spring from the intellect. (Memes not Genes).
