big_run,

I'm not familiar with J&J's study, but if you find it, I would like to read it. I don't think one can conclude that no nasal gel will work just because one particular nasal gel didn't work.

It is my understanding that Quigley's problem is a lack of advertising and brand name recognition. They recently issued a press release that said in part, "It is our ongoing goal to increase the awareness for COLD-EEZE, while continually distancing ourselves from the battery of unproven and medically-ineffective imitators capitalizing on our advertising." There's no doubt that GumTech needs to make sure that consumers know the difference between Zicam and any imitators that come on the market.

Regarding nicotine gum, Gary Kehoe (President of GumTech) has a well established reputation in the confectionary industry for being able to mask bad flavors in gum. This is one reason why I think GumTech's generic nicotine gum will do very well against Nicorette. It should taste better and cost less.

Best regards,

Dan
