The New Successor's Name Is Lebed

Summary
In the Kremlin, they are actively discussing another government re-shuffle. It
is possible that on Monday the country will hear the name of Yeltsin's new
successor, Krasnoyarsk Governor General Aleksander Lebed. This was the
reason Lebed did not even come to the Friday's sitting of the Parliament?s
upper house. He thought that his gubernatorial activity was coming to end.

And former Security Council Deputy Secretary and famous media tycoon
Boris Berezovsky will become responsible for Caucasian politics. He will be
appointed to a high state post once again. Berezovsky has significant
experience in the Caucasus, especially in paying for the liberation of hostages.
Chechen President Maskhadov, in an interview with French newspaper ?Le
Monde?, confirmed this fact.

Boris Yeltsin himself will hardly play significant role in all these new
appointments as his health condition has sharply deteriorated.

All in all, the Kremlin cannot work with any government because it always
suspects conspiracy or competition.
