I know the b2b companies which right now consist of Arba, cmrc, agil and icge and maybe a few others... if anybody sees any ipo let me know.

Arba and cmrc used to compete head-on with internet enabled purchasing software. You bought the software and installed it, with connectors to your ERP. The real value add is the catalog which each of them were after to sign corporate suppliers... to shop the web the suppliers item master needs to be understood by arba, cmrc. I felt that arba was so far ahead in the catalog area (plus they have better tech anyway) that they would kill cmrc.

However, cmrc seems to have changed their strategy a little.. not surprising since Hoffman is a smart CEO, now cmrc is using a hub-based outsourcing model to purchasing.. meaning, no software to buy and install. Now I'm unsure as to who will win out vs. commerceone and Ariba, and both may win. Cmrc's model which is a website that does the work which is totally outsourced to the customer base is better for growth... you can sign more customers faster.
