Jill, Those commission rates that Exxcant quoted are reasonable. Most of my trades on those type of options result in the same type of rate. The only time i get cheap commissions is on those 1/16 to 1/4 options prices and trades below 2k.
I would guess that Fidelity would negotiate to a reasonable amount on small dollar trades in options. You might just have to call in the trade.

I am not buying anymore options on MSFT (Octobers). I am holding lots of January and Aprils as well as shares.
MSFT seems to be a company is poised to break through its all time high (i am no TA) just as most other big cap techs have. This may be a play that momentum investors have taken. OR maybe the stock is just undervalued.

I am playing only JDS Uniphase short term options--Octobers---small amount of cash only. Hoping to add EBAY short term options soon---just trying to pick a bottom this stock from the selloff caused by the other auctioneers' challenge(including MSFT). I would guess that EBAY has got nothing to worry about-----could be wrong of course.

JDSU still looks really strong and i had dumped the balance of my QCOM and replaced it with JDSU on Friday. JDSU is one of my larger holdings as a stock as well.
