I agree that I sometimes get distressed with the publicity that Ampex gets for the DST. The last time I was distressed was actually just after Coach bought one as a backup device. As I recall, they had been unaware of it and hadn't been considering it, but somehow found out about it and bought one. Actually what I had in mind the last time we talked about was to loan a machine to various magazines for testing. Yes it is true that most readers of say, PC Magazine, can't afford a DST, but wouldn't it be great if they all WANTED one. <G> And there might well be some readers of PC Magazine who might be about to buy an Exabyte systems but wishing there were something better. And the biggest surprise of all might be that Ampex might sell the test unit to ZD. <G> Such a program would not be without cost, but I would think that it would be less expensive than flooding the market with brochures. They would have to build an extra unit, and pass it from magazine to magazine over probably a 6 month period, and probably help with installation. On the other hand it is possible that publications like PC Magazine have a policy of only testing products that advertise with them, I don't know. There are also probably better publications for this than PC magazine, but every time I see an article on "the ultimate backup device", I think, "well, not quite". <G> When Car & Driver reviews some custom $250,000 sports car, very few of their readers can afford one. But that doesn't mean they aren't interested in one. And the makers of those exclusive cars know that there is no cheaper way to get publicity. I think the same thing applies here. Carl
