Agreement with Bass Hotels & Resorts in Canada

BURNABY, BC, Jan. 13 /CNW/ - Canada Payphone Corporation

Canada Payphone Corporation (CPC), Canada's first Competitive Pay
Telephone Service Provider, is pleased to announce that it has entered into an
agreement with Bass Hotels & Resorts to offer payphone services to all of
their hotels and resorts in Canada, which include Inter-Continental, Crowne
Plaza, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, and Staybridge Suites by Holiday Inn.

``I am pleased that Bass Hotels & Resorts has decided to take advantage
of CPC's state-of-the-art AT&T Canada branded payphone services and
interactive Internet kiosks,' said Bruce Clark, President and Chief Executive
Officer. ``This is one of our largest contracts to date for the deployment of
our payphones as it represents 230 Bass Hotels & Resorts. Each property will
accommodate 1 to 10 payphones.'

The hotel properties will be offered the luxury of using the new
Grapevine(T) Network Terminal presently being displayed at the ICSC Convention
in Whistler as announced in Canada Payphone's January 12, 2000 press release.
The AT&T Canada branded payphones accept all coins, credit and calling cards,
as well as provide full operator services and flat rate long distance charges
across Canada and to the United States. The interactive phones will also
display advertising and offer consumers access to the Internet for e-commerce
and personal information services.
