Geoff Tate said that Rambus saved Sony $96.00 per Playstation II.

Three months ago I heard Geoff state that they had saved Sony $96 per playstation by using two RDRAMs. This is consistent with a statement made about another use for RDRAMS... the workstation in one of your Intel links.

Your link to Intel e-Businiss Center; Workstation Solutions, The RDRAM difference has a quote from INTEL that supports this:

"Working with industry vendors, Intel has adopted a solution that will enable high-performance memory access WITHOUT ADOPTING EXOTIC AND EXPENSIVE MEMORY TECHNOLOGIES. Direct Rambus DRAM, also known as Direct RDRAM, is a fast, serial memory technology developed by RAMBUS. This technology, which will appear in upcoming Intel Architecture workstations, provides an increase in memory bandwidth from 800MBps for SDRAM to 3.2GBps for dual-channel RDRAM."
