What we really need is a service that will automatically translate for us.

It can give some interesting results if one goes from one language to another and back (indicating that its translations aren't exact), but it can be useful for a small phrase or even an entire web page in an unknown language:

Email language translation function through CTCH due out 4th quarter 99. There are some translation programs available today, but they are in need of refinement.
