Understood. Are there any archaic views worth upholding?

And most women reject the label "feminist" too. A most negative/derogatory term.

It does not connote power, that is the problem.

Some women don't care about power but about being good people.

So indeed, successful women are likely "not ladies".

Conceded in your case. However, I know many ladies who are successful, powerful and still are ladies. JLA

That is the whole deal huh? Just what exactly do you feel you will have when you have it?

And if you have it, who will care?

When they plant you, is that what you want on your marker? "I HAD POWER!!" that can certainly be chiseled right into your marble marker......as they throw dirt in your face....

...and meanwhile back at the plant, they will say..."boy, she sure had power......what's for lunch?".....

>>However, this is a sentiment you see echoed from Rush Limbaugh and others, and I think its about time we trash those arcane views

Sorry, I forgot this in my precedent post. Arcane means "hidden or secret". Which is the very opposite of what you intended. You are talking about the very vocal and public views - so much so that they are "echoed".

The word you were groping for was probably "archaic". Or atavistic. That's antediluvian.

MH,the word "lady" does now and always has meant one who conducts herself in a proper manner with poise and grace among others. The same holds true for the word "gentleman".
The main connotation of both words deal with being a decent person. I realize that people say "lady" in a derisive manner which would tick any lady or woman off justifiably But those people are far and few between and I have witnessed it done in the most part by guys who don't like women. I am not in that group. If your sole goal is power regardless of the manner in which you obtain it, then you can not qualify as a lady in anybody's judgement.^ ^ ^TD
