Actually, I had heard of it, so there!

Homesickness passes, as it did for most of us. We miss, but the sting diminishes. And unlike death, there is still a relationship that will evolve, as E has noted, into something different but equally special. I actually grew closer to my mother when I wasn't living with her. Particularly after college, our relationship moved into a loving friendship of equals with a lot of history; it was quite complex and a treasure.
