BUY - MDR

- an upgrade this morning & covg started (SSB & MERRILL) into this selloff - follow it down; this is a "true" undervalued company.

MDR is the best buy in the driller/service arena here imho. I've been pounding the table on it for a couple of weeks and using it here recently as a comparison of "value" with FGI.

All of this hooplah over the conncection with Suharto on the Indonesian Pipeline deal - proved to be just that; hooplah... new contracts announced this week etc.

Today - Merrill initiates coverage & Salomon Smith Barney upgrades.

Fundamentals: try this on for size:

biz.yahoo.com

Price to Book: 1.62
Price to Sales: .45

$10.16 per share in CASH ! - $600 Million

Backlog is huge, nearly 9 x that of FGI here.
near 52 week low due to selloff on fears of losing Indonesian pipeline contract - now cleared up; - recent high of $30

A conservative $1.3 Billion Mkt Cap company and the best risk vs. reward play in the Oil Service sector imho... now, with a coverage initiation and an upgrade today; the mo- mo will return.

I'm in @ $22 3/16 ths today and will follow each $1 down if seen; however - this blow off today is setting up a great buying opp in the OSX in general; on an individual stockpicking basis.

This is irrational, for those companies with rising fundamentals; MDR here is an "anomaly" - excellent balance sheet - anyone remember the excellent and very bullish article done by Herb Greenberg of theStreet.Com on MDR's balance sheet ? - access the article if you can.

This is a winner; especially for those who want a strong, strong balance sheet company, that has sold off on a potential bad news event (the potential cancellation of Indonesian pipeline deal) and is now poised for a substantial run.

Do the "DD" - aint no way to hype a $1 Billion mkt cap stock with near 50% in CASH !

... this is what the "sheep" wish FGI was... know the difference.
