RE <<<Re:"Raza and Dresden"

Well Dresden is sure a real peculiar situation.>>>

Obviously, I do not know Raza but it would be hard to convince me that in June, holding onto Dresden, would be a bad move. Yet that apparently is what Raza was pushing for...the sale of Dresden.

You say that Raza is risk adverse but how risky was/is Dresden? The semi industry is rebounding dramatically, many chips are in short supply, fabs are in short supply and I have to believe Dresden's overhead is low considering the breaks the Saxony provincial govt provided to land AMD. All this was known in June. I think Raza was a good manager and worked well with the employees but within AMD you also need a clear vision and a committment to that vision as well.....otherwise intc will eat you for lunch. I think that is what Sanders brings to the equation.

As for tooling I am confused. I think it was Dan who brought over the yahoo posts by a guy who has worked in the Austin fabs and he said the Dresden tools were the same as Austin's. You do not seem to agree. If you haven't read those posts, you might consider doing so. The copper issue I can not address since at this point I am not clear on the pros and cons.

BTW you have been doing a lot of hail marys lately....is that your penance for buying AMD?
