ted - <Since we are on the subject....why do you post here? I had thought you were long on AMD as well, of course, as intc. However you said recently you will buy AMD only at 18. Not a big issue but I am curious.>

Why not? I'm paying to do it. AMD is a fierce competitor of Intel's. I am long Intel. Potentially AMD can affect my financial future quite significantly, both in my portfolio and my real income (bonuses).

I know my views are often contrarian. Do you want everyone here to be sycophants and just look at the rosy side of things?

I lurked both the AMD and INTC threads for several moths before joining SI and posting. I saw cross-posting as a rather normal occurrence.

I seriously considered going long AMD before the run up. I just never pulled the trigger. I said yesterday I have another tentative strike target at 18.

When I first came on SI, and a couple of times since, I stated that
I believe the best scenario for AMD stock is that of a takeover or merger. I believe this is a real possibility in the near future, and I wouldn't mind being in AMD when/if that happens.

I invest the lion's share of my money in Semiconductors. I know the business and feel comfortable doing this. May be foolish, but it's worked for my whole adult life to this point. As you have a fondness of pointing out, other stocks have done better than INTC. So be it. I don't invest in them (except in the form of mutual funds), as they do not fit my investment strategy.

I am seriously considering a stake in another non-Intel semiconductor play, and am in the midst of doing some research. If I make this investment, you'll be one of the first to know.
