It's been a while since I looked at DAL but I recall their mkt cap was about $9 billion and they held about $1.9 billion worth of PL.com stock or options. It didn't seem like Mr Market was giving DAL much credit for speculating on Internet stocks. A recent Barron's analyst interview recommended PL.com stock as being one of very few net stocks with a business model that looked like it would actually make money. I'm suggesting the PL.com stock options are a hidden bonus for DAL.

Alaska Airlines has been mentioned as a takeover candidate for their attractive north-south routes that the majors are short on.

This week's Barron's has a reprint of a 9/14/99 online article "Hot Oil Service Stocks May Be Vunerable." They say that E&P insiders are stepping up their stock sales, that analysts are downgrading the shares, that major oil companies are holding their E&P budgets to a minimum, and that OPEC's strategy is not to allow the oil price to raise too much or they'll bring new or idled production online to compete with them. The ol' not too not too cold strategy. OSX.x may decouple from crude.

I really like your idea though as it seems OPEC's held together on this agreement for a fairly long time and it seems reasonable that someone will start cheating soon and crude will break down.
