RE <<<I am cautiously optimistic at this moment that China would refrain from attacking Taiwan in any military form or shape.>>>

I, too, am cautiously optimistic... I am hoping with everyone still watching Red China's absorption of Hong Kong and with Red China's preoccupation with internal growth, that it will refrain from attacking Taiwan.

On a more immediate note, have you heard about the earthquake in Taiwan....7.3. Sounds serious.

Yougang: Re" Think about this: If such military action be launched (not to mention other huge ramifications), Athlon will be dead for there are no MOBO and chipsets coming out from Taiwan."

Well, we better hope that the PLA don't touch the Hsinchu Science Park or the entire electronic industry is in trouble. Let's see, 5 TSMC fabs, plus UMC, Winbond (have they completely rebuilt that huge fab after the fire?), Mosel-Vitelic, Acer etc etc.

Even if they just blockaded Taiwan, imagine the incredible shortage of all electronic components. All the PCs, motherboards, memory, graphics chips, SLICs, DSPs.. I shudder at the thought.

Well, invasion wouldn't be possible, but a blockade might be. Here's hoping it never comes to pass.
