Richard and thread: re TigerPaw's comment on recalibration of sensitive equipment in fab plants.....I also have some experience with this. The problem is not only the initial jolt, but the aftershocks. It is really necessary to wait to recalibrate and test production until the entire seismic event is over. Could take weeks to get to the point of certainty. Once recalibrated, an aftershock of even moderate intesity can require restarting the process.

Being trapped in wreckage from an earthquake must be absolutely awful, especially if you are fully conscious and aware that there may be aftershocks to jiggle things up even more.
