NEW YORK, Sept 20 (Reuters) - Stocks were quiet in after-
hours trade with only a few issues trading on light volume,
traders said.
Shares of Apple Computer Inc. <AAPL.O> were halted after
the bell as the computer maker said its fourth-quarter earnings
would fall well below the year-ago level due to low shipments
of a new computer.
The stock climbed 2-1/8 to 79-1/16 during the regular
session, just off a 52-week high of 79-1/8. Apple is expected
to resume trading by 1715 EST.
Other shares made modest movement, traders said. Cabletron
Systems Inc. <CS.N> was up 1/8 to 19-1/8 compared with its
closing price on the New York Stock Exchange. The company
posted second-quarter results that met Wall Street targets.
Invitrogen Corp. <IVGN.O> shares did not trade after hours,
traders said. The stock closed up 1/2 at 28-1/4 on the Nasdaq.
It said after the bell that it would lay off 45 people, or 14
percent of its workforce due to its merger with Novex.
