The Vermont Teddy Bear Co(R) Opens New Markets With Nabisco(R), Summit Bank, and Zany Brainy(R)
SHELBURNE, Vt., Sept. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- To meet demand in wholesale and corporate affinity markets for a lower cost, premium-quality teddy bear, The Vermont Teddy Bear Company© (Nasdaq: BEAR - news) has partnered with several well recognized industry leaders to custom design and import private label and co-branded teddy bears.

``Expansion into wholesale and corporate affinity markets is a whole new opportunity for the Company to supplement our holiday driven Bear-Gram© business and leverage our strengths in design, personalization and customer service,' said CEO Elisabeth Robert.

In October, Zany Brainy©, Inc. will begin selling Make-A-Friend-For- Life© teddy bears designed and imported by The Vermont Teddy Bear Company exclusively for Zany Brainy in a program the multi-media educational toy chain plans to roll out nationally. The Make-A-Friend-For-Life kiosks provide an interactive activity that emulates the teddy bear manufacturing process at The Vermont Teddy Bear Company. Customers participate in the making of a teddy bear by selecting a ``fat free' bear, stuffing it and giving it a felt heart, and then sewing the bear with the help of a store staff member.

Summit Bank recently introduced Summit Teddy Bears designed and imported for their ``You Deserve The Best' incentive program. These creative mountain climbing bears, bearing a flag that reads ``Reach Higher©,' were offered to customers upgrading their checking accounts or opening loans at the bank's nearly 500 branches located in New Jersey, eastern Pennsylvania, and Connecticut. Nabisco© plans to introduce specially created Teddy Grahams© bears for a nationwide holiday charitable event and to motivate the public to sample their Teddy Grahams© cookie product.

``Teddy Bears say a lot more than your typical company duffel bag, or tee shirt,' said Tom Clark, Director of Corporate and Wholesale Sales. ``We have a knack for designing fun, creative, customized teddy bears that help people communicate a meaningful message. It's only natural that this would be popular in business-to-business or business-to-consumer communications.'
Each program varies to meet the needs of the corporate customer but every
program carries the Vermont Teddy Bear Company quality stamp and the Company's
unconditional lifetime guarantee. The Vermont Teddy Bear Company has
partnered with several factories in China that meet the Company's stringent
quality and fair labor standards. Imported teddy bears are identified by a
co-branded label and a butt tag that reads "Designed and imported by The
Vermont Teddy Bear Company."

The Classic, 15`` jointed Vermont Teddy Bear(TM) brand teddy bears, advertised nationally by radio personalities, continue to be made by hand at the Company's Shelburne, Vermont factory for the Company's Bear-Gram gift delivery service.

``Convinced that our identity as an American manufacturer of teddy bears is a key element of our brand positioning, we are committed to preserving and growing our Vermont based manufacturing operation to make Vermont Teddy Bears for the Bear-Gram delivery service,' said Robert.

For qualified corporate and wholesale accounts, The Vermont Teddy Bear Company creates customized programs that may include specially designed bears, personalized fulfillment, and fast, informed and courteous order processing.
