David Mann, spokesman for Talisman Energy Inc. of Calgary, said his company has interests in several countries and continues to look at doing business in numerous other places around the world.

In May, Sudanese rebels warned that Talisman's oil joint venture in Sudan could become a military target in that country's bloody civil war.

"We didn't go into the international area of operations naively. Most of [the countries] come with good points and bad points," Mr. Mann said. "We recognize that there are issues in all of the foreign countries that we operate in, but we do our homework before we go in."

Talisman plans to forge ahead with a tour of its Sudanese operations in November for analysts and institutional investors.
