Hi Sig,..Re:.Apple down 11 afterhours

The Story about why. <g>

Apple warns of sales, profit decline

cbs.marketwatch.com
CUPERTINO, Calif. (CBS.MW) -- Apple Computer said late Monday it won't meet fourth-quarter profit expectations because of a production snag affecting its new Power Mac G4 desktop computer, causing its shares to plunge more than 12 percent in after-hours trading.

The profit warning, combined with Monday's earthquake in Taiwan, where many computer makers have production plants, could cast a pall over personal computer and chipmaker stocks Tuesday, analysts said.

Apple blamed the shortfall on scarce supplies of G4 processors from Motorola (MOT: news, msgs).

Cheers,

Lee

Morning Sig,

Can you please advise which sites you use to get option pricing? I used to use a Dreyfus site but since my old notebook crashed, have lost all old bookmarks. Have the CBOE URL but it's pretty slow especially if you want leap prices.

Market may be under more pressure today than from just Taiwan since the BoJ decided not to do anything about the strengthening yen and the dollar tanked once that decision was announced. Currently the Dec. bond is down a quarter point as well and Roger Ferguson is speaking this afternoon. <g> Also, almost forgot, we're getting trade deficit data for July!

FOCUS-Bank of Japan bucks pressure, keeps policy

Despite the change to more accommodative market operations, the BOJ announced there was no change in monetary policy, which would involve changing the overnight target, the discount rate, bank reserve requirements or establishing a target for inflation or money supply growth.

The dollar immediately plunged more than 1.5 percent and Japanese government bond prices fell on disappointment that the central bank did not take any major policy changes to combat the yen's rise.
