OT Bill, It is just a matter of momentum in a stock. I compare JDSU to QCOM. Q had some negative story on earnings----ie will meet or exceed but not as much as usual. Still Q has bounced back. Both companies are considered the same type of stocks.
JDSU is all positive to the best of my knowledge.
It may be a stock that some may want to substitute a stock like Q for simply due to this lack of bad news and just ride the momentum like the internet stocks used to.

As for understanding their business or earnings etc---i don't know much. Just looking at it as momentum. Also my understanding is that they have a very dominant position in their industry.

I might still take profits on it(the shares i bought Friday) and just hold on to my core amount.

Bill, As far as i am concerned MSFT is my only real core holding. The others are just momentum OR defensive plays depending upon the stock.

BTW--This stock gets a lot of mention on Street.com (Cramer) as it forms part of the red hots index.
