Here is yet another IPO--CVC--in which Seagate holds a substantial minority interest:

I know next to nothing about this company. Read the post following the one referenced above as well, it has shareholder info. Seagate will own about 25% of the company after the offering. Don't see this one soaring like ZOOX, but who knows--it hasn't made money in '99, so it's got a shot at exploding.<vbg>

Mark

The Seagate stock price just keeps coming back.

Thanks to the price of its stock holdings, mainly Veritas.

I have tried to follow the prices of VRTS, ZOOX and SNDK and their relationship to SEG. I have attempted to adjust for the addition of new SEG shares to purchase the minority position in VRTS. Making no allowance for liquidity and taxes, my estimation of the markets value of Seagate's drive business is only slightly above $1 a share. This is as low as it has been since the sale of Seagate software to Veritas. So maybe the price of SEG hasn't been coming back.

As usual, please take this type of analysis with a huge grain of salt. It has many drawbacks.
