Don - I went thru the Wi-LAN site last week, and noted the changes. The print was a little hard to read on some of the artwork, and I thought the artwork itself was a little basic. I dunno, I thought the presentation detracted from the merit of the ideas.
But, you're right, the vision of the future wired world is very exciting.
I follow a discussion of DSL technology on another thread, and it's very much like wireless - a proliferation of technology, standards, competition, etc. - and the future is unclear, even to the many knowledgeable investors who speak (and I'm not one of them!).
Wi-LAN has made some strong moves in beefing up its corporate structure. The technology is there, and could get better - if R+D brings WOFDM into the 100 Mbps. range, another poster on another thread said "it will stand the wireless world on its ears"!
But, to be straight about it, it's not clear how they're going to emerge as a dominant standard, and it looks like 2-3 years before that might happen.
Wi-LAN is doing a helluva job, and I have a substantial investment in the company. It's just real hard to see their strategy, and how it will take them to the top of the heap. They're not "joiners", they don't belong to the various consortia, they just seem to be forging ahead on their own. They are a truly unique company.
Best of luck to all, JK
