I don't see a memory subsystem gorilla, unless within NTAP's software there emerges an enabling kernel that closes out all contenders.


NTAP does have patented storage techniques (Write Anywhere File Layout (WAFL)), recovery techniques (Snapshot) that may provide performance, reliability, and sys admin advantages that others can't duplicate. NTAP is the only (ONLY!) SAN or NAS contender with its own OS and its own file layout. Others use Unix and/or NT file storage systems and Unix or NT (or deriviatives) as their OS.
