I think it's just as likely that Gateway saw how Athlon stacked up against CuMine and figured Athlon wasn't worth the availability risk.

Well you may be in for a surprise as to how Cumine stacks up against Athlon clock for clock, and AMD has yet to show that they can even deliver volume at any speed. Don't mistake announcements from a desperate company on the brink of bankruptcy with reality. Announcements don't add to your bottom line, only volume shipments do. We ain't seen that yet from AMD.
