Yougang - <To my eye, this is a highly hedged statement from Gateway, especially the phrase "at one given point in time" - highly definative of time-frame in trying to say that we shut you down this time, Athlon; you still have a chance later on.

What's your read into this statement>

I do not disagree at all. Gateway is not saying they are Intel Forever. But they sure are now, at this point in time.

The Gateway's statement is rather meaningless, but I can tell you what is behind it. Gateway was going after Athlon very aggressively. They designed their own mobo. Had it worked, no Intel bribe would have mattered. But some smart @$$ Gateway EE deviated from the reference design and the mobos where failing AMD validation. So they turned around to Intel and said that they are 100% ready to go with Athlon, but could consider PeeIII instead for a very sweetheart deal.
