G'day all, again - hi CIMA, thanks for posting the article from Stratfor here. Well, last time when I commented on Stratfor, I got flamed <SG>. So, I guess I am asking for it again <VBSG>, but the thing is, PLA has always been the root of power since the founding of CCCP. Remember Mao's slogan, [something like] power is from the barrel of a gun. A lot of anecdotal evidence. PLA was instrumental mopping up the Red Guard after Cultural Revolution got out of control. When Deng was in trouble, he went to his buddy, Pao si-yeoh of the southern command to cool his heels. That is why the web of [feudal] relationships in the old Politburo. Of course, most of the old guards are six feet under now. Still, rest assured that even President Jiang is not safe. OTOH, whoever behind the PLA seem to be smart enough to allow civilian rules. Who knows, in times it may happen

best, Bosco
