Burstware Debuts on the Internet; Burstware Expands Beyond the Corporate LAN/WAN Environment
SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 21, 1999--Instant Video Technologies (OTC BB:IVDO) www.burst.com, today announced the debut of its enterprise-class software, Burstware(R), on the Internet.

As of today, Burstware(R) will be widely available for Internet applications for all of IVT's existing customers and partners. Burstware(R) delivers high-quality, jitter-free video and CD-quality audio across any IP-based network. Burstware(R) is the first time-based media delivery solution to fully optimize network performance, as well as to Burst-Enable(TM) standard industry players to greatly improve media quality over both broadband and narrowband. Burstware(R) on the Internet will be showcased at upcoming events and tradeshows.

According to IVT Chairman, President and CEO, Richard Lang, "Whenever the network pipe is bigger than the encoding rate, Burstware(R) can be utilized as the media delivery mechanism. When the Internet was only narrowband, Burstware(R) focused on broadband and corporate LAN/WAN environments. Now that broadband is emerging on the Internet, Burstware(R) can deliver uninterrupted, high-quality content on the Internet. Burstware(R) is poised to become the replacement technology for real-time streaming."

Historically, time-based media could only be delivered in two ways: downloading or streaming. Each method has fundamental limitations. While downloading maintains picture and sound quality, the time that it takes to download is prohibitive. The second option, real-time streaming, allows for media viewing but sacrifices quality.

According to Lang, the solution to these issues requires a process that manages the impact of video on the network and maintains video and audio quality, while allowing users immediate start-up. Real-time streaming was created as a solution based upon constrained bandwidth conditions. Emerging networks have the bandwidth and Burstware(R) provides the appropriate media delivery solution.

"Seeing is believing," said IVT CTO, Kyle Faulkner, "Our patented Faster-Than-Real-Time(TM) technology makes high quality video over the Internet a reality. With numerous businesses and consumers receiving high-speed access, massive demand for high quality content is here. With the convergence of broadband and the Internet, Burstware(R) is the delivery platform of choice."
