Z,

Nutbags who go around committing mass murders make for sensational news, but they are just a drop in the bucket compared to the daily amount of murders that take place.

Any gun control laws that are either enacted or even debated should be considered within the context of the greater day to day problem that exists, not the more sensational but smaller problem of the type we experienced at columbine.

Personally, I don't care if you are for or against gun control. You have every right to express your opinion on the matter. My own opinion is that it is ludicrous to allow people to own automatic weaponry and armor piercing bullets.

I don't hunt, I don't shoot guns for pleasure, and I grew up in the city of Chicago and don't personally know a single person who ever was in their home at the same time as the person who robbed their home. I don't know anyone personally who would have been in the situation where owning a handgun would have enhanced their safety in the slightest. Obviously there are situations and people where having an available firearm might have helped, it also might have gotten that person killed too.
