In a research note, Merrill Lynch analyst Joe Osha said that according to information the investment firm has received so far, Tuesday's Taiwan earthquake caused no "significant structural damage" to the two major foundry semiconductor manufacturers there.

Yet, Osha said the earthquake did cause emergency shutdowns at fabs in Hsinchu, where most of Taiwan's fabrication facilities are located.

"All in all, again assuming that no more significant structural damage has occurred, we believe that between one and a half and two weeks of production will either be lost or scrapped," he wrote.

Land, if "They" exist, they surely would not want to tip off their hand, but in any event the resilience in face of the general massacre, indicates to me that "they" and the "Scenario" are alive and well. The bounce from $72.5 yesterday was "They"'s (whomever they are) tip off, IMHO.

Long live the scenario, but not too long.
