Norsat sets out to claim new markets

Strategic European deal: Swept up by
demand for satellite communications

By JOHN SCHREINER
The Financial Post

Twenty-one-year-old satellite communications gear maker
Norsat International Inc. is back. Again.

The Burnaby, B.C.-based company has been turned
around so often its shareholders need a compass. In the
past month, however, the market has begun to say that
Robert Bucher, the company's sixth president, finally has
Norsat figured out. The shares (NII/TSE), which had a
52-week low of $1.17, recently hit a 52-week high of
$4.80, within hailing distance of the $6 the shares hit in
1995. The shares closed yesterday at $4.45, up 46c.
