Services

Jump to first matched term

ROCHESTER, N.H. and BLUE BELL, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 21,
1999--

Strategic Relationship Augments Cabletron's GlobalNetwork
Technology

Services Offering With the Unisys Portfolio of

Network Lifecycle Support Solutions

Cabletron Systems (NYSE:CS) and Unisys Corporation today
announced a strategic services agreement through which Unisys will
deliver on-site service for Cabletron's entire internetworking hardware
and software solutions portfolio. This alliance will help ensure the
continual availability to customers of network resources required for
electronic business and other mission-critical enterprise applications.

Under terms of the agreement, Unisys will provide a full range of
services including maintenance, installation, and moves/adds/changes
on 24-by-7 basis. Cabletron will leverage the Unisys global service
delivery network to augment its own GlobalNetwork Technology
Services, extending Cabletron's acclaimed service and support
offerings to a wider range of multi-national customers. As a leading
provider of network integration and managed services, Unisys supports
heterogeneous distributed computing environments on a global basis -
providing customers with responsive on-site support services to
maximize network availability.

"As networks gain prominence as strategic business assets, network
availability is increasingly critical - and downtime is intolerable," said
Earle Humphreys, executive vice president, GlobalNetwork Technology
Services at Cabletron Systems. "Cabletron, through its GlobalNetwork
Technology Services, is committed to implementing and supporting the
industry's most advanced networking communications solutions, with
particular expertise in the design, implementation, and support of
high-speed routed networks, as well as the latest advanced technology
enabled services. By teaming with Unisys, a proven leader in the
design, implementation, and support of critical networks for electronic
business, we are able to provide a valuable new support resource for
customers."

"With its emphasis on total e-business networking solutions, Cabletron
is an ideal partner for strategic service from Unisys," commented David
Saunders, vice president, Distributed Computing Support Services
Worldwide, Unisys Global Customer Services. "The global, 24-by-7
service capability represented by this alliance enhances Cabletron's
position and capability to deliver rapid implementation and on-site
support needed to ensure optimal network availability and
performance."

The Cabletron relationship is managed through the Unisys Strategic
Service Partnership program. Unisys provides its Strategic Service
Partners the opportunity to offer a wide range of services around the
world -- without having to build or buy their own expanded service
capability. The program offers electronic access to a single worldwide
service call tracking, management and logistics information system as
well as a marketing support program.
