That is unavoidable as most people are unaware of how their beliefs color their intellectual processes. But there are some careful sorts out there. It is a situation that transfers a great deal of the burden to the listener, who must then ferret out bias in the story. But even then the best thing is to correct for the bias but keep listening; no point pitching out the baby with the bathwater.
