The funny thing about Buchanan is that he has always been a Nixon Republican, despite the fact that Nixon sold out the conservatives on nearly everything. Buchanan has always been a street brawler and loved Nixon for his enemies.

I fully expect that AlGore will be the Dem nominee, after AlGore loses in NH he will rack up enough in the South and through Clinton to secure the nom, though heavily damaged.

Though I loathe the thought, I expect that Buchanan will run on the Perot Party. That I believe will limit Bush to about 50% but I believe Buchanan will attract enough of the otherwise disengaged to the polls to enable the Republicans to keep control of both houses of Congress.

In that way Buchanan will have a salutary effect on the elections. Bush can then appoint him to oversee the border patrol.
