NW: Mr. K sez ...

" Does elevation from sea level reduce the elevation angle to the satellite? No. The elevation difference is insignificant to the eyeball in PA. When aiming, slightly less than direct line of site over foliage can still provide an acceptable signal. You should experiment. Hint: Set the elevation and swing the dish for the azimuth while watching the light. Can you locate the dish on the ground and "shoot" under the oak trees?

Re the snow ... Yeah, you should keep the dish free of snow. Most of the time, the snow should fall off by itself. You can also use a dome (covers the entire assembly) if you get a lot of snow."

Hope this makes sense to you.
