Tellabs Wins Irish National Innovation Award
Company's Next-Generation Voice/Data Switch Takes Top Honors
LISLE, Ill., Sept. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Tellabs (Nasdaq: TLAB - news) announced today that it was named overall winner in Ireland's National Innovation Awards, which highlight the importance of innovation and technology in Irish business and are an integral part of the Irish government's Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) Awareness Program.

Tellabs, which also was the winner in the large business category, was recognized for its AN2100© Gateway Exchange(TM) (GX) System, a next-generation voice/data switch that enables service providers to consolidate circuit-switched and variable bit rate data services over a single, broadband network. With the AN2100 GX System, data, voice and video services can be delivered over ATM or IP backbones. The AN2100 GX System was developed and is manufactured in Shannon, Ireland, where Tellabs employs more than 500 people.
