DJ Carnegie Invest Offers To Buy 2.2M Fruit Of Loom Shrs

NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--Carnegie Investment Management Ltd. offered to purchase up to 2.2 million Fruit of the Loom Ltd. (FTL) shares, or 3% of the company's shares outstanding, for $3.85 a share in cash.

In a press release Friday, Carnegie Investment, an investment management company, said the offer is open to all holders of shares and will expire Nov. 12.

Carnegie Investment intends to seek additional investments in apparel company Fruit of the Loom.

Information agent is LMC Assets Corp. Transfer agent is Chase Mellon.

NYSE-listed shares of Fruit of the Loom closed Friday at $3.625, up 25 cents or 7.4%, on composite volume of 1.2 million shares. Average daily volume is 1.24 million shares.
