Dude--if you don't mind me saying, you might want
to get some help. 90% sorrow--gotta fix that. And
I'm sorry to hear the raising the kids is an
"obigation", I'm sure it can be tough at times,
lord knows my brother and I kept my folks busy
way back then...but you've gotta look for the
good stuff and get yourself cheered up. I see
from your recent messages you're trying to
focus on some little things, small pleasures--
that seems like a good start. Also might want to get
away from the PC--take to some offline people--you
can only take this virtual community stuff so far before
it becomes a bit lame.

Mike are you happy with your life?
yeah, I'm very lucky, it pretty much kicks ass,
if there is anything I can do to help you get
undepressed here on SI, no sweat--I've got
plenty of advice, and it's all free! But a
professional sounds like a good idea too for you.

First step, find some good help. Plus if it's
the market which has you down, maybe you need
to cut back your exposure. I personally keep my
savings out of the market and play with what I
call "house money"--the trading gains. What about
you?

New purpose for this thread: Gotta cheer up Jon K!

--and remember, it doesn't have to have meaning.
Ever watch kids play--not a lot of meaning, maybe
you just need to learn how to play again--and
I don't mean playing the markets, stocks are a
lot of frustration sometimes--take a break from
that nonsense--I know all about how trades become
investments, but it's okay. Maybe one really should
know everything they can about their companies.

Final bit of advice--might not want to be trading
on margin if you have the blues, yikes. Good luck,
hope you cheer up.

my bet is that you are asking the wrong question,jon....you probably wouldn't be asking about the meaning of life if you were happy....my experience an observations tell me that as human beings we are taught..for good or bad..how to react to life by the people who bring us up as children....mainly our parents...countless number of times i see people playing out senarios that our parents taught us...without even knowing...i repeat...without even knowing...most people who are not happy were taught to be like that by their parents...unwittingly...the people who are happy have no concept on how a bad parent can influence some one so negatively cause i'll bet they had good or at least ok parents...bad parents should be outlawed...shall i go onnnnn.....redwood

<<I traveled to many places, chased after many girls, tried fine wine and best dishes, never had drugs but tried marijuana...>>

Okay Jon, you've had me wondering since I first saw this thread, so I went and tried to figure out what was making you tick, and what I ought to try to tell you. So I go and read all this stuff, all sounds fine, what could you be unhappy about?

Then I'm going back through your old posts, and I find you've been dabbling in one thing I've never touched. Never wanted to. Don't think I'd like it if I tried it. But you did, and now your asking all kinds of imponderable questions. Man, Opera is just a bad trip.

It all starts innocent enough. One little song, 'it makes me feel good', but before long the fat lady is singing and you soon find yourself in some lobby just wanting more. Get yourself straightened out.

J......" I tasted them all... seems meaningless to me."...add a good dose of compassion to that sense of meaninglessness...both for yourself and others...and .."You've got It".......t
